In Brooklyn, Saoirse Ronan stars as a young Irish woman named Eilis Lacey adapting to her new life at a New York City boarding house and her new job at a department store. In this first clip, she realizes just how much she misses home when a letter arrives from her family in Ireland.
Directed by John Crowley and written by Nick Hornby,Brooklyn adapts the novel by Colm Tóibín, which follows Eilis as she navigates New York and falls in love with an Italian man before tragedy forces her to choose between her old life in Ireland and her new life in America.
Brooklyn debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and will hit theaters on Nov. 6.
Fox Searchlight has released the official poster for Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan (Lovely Bones) and here it is…
As you can see, Saoirse Ronan looks stunning as does the New York backdrop. The film is set for a November release.
Synopsis:
BROOKLYN tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
