
DESERT SUN: Kate Winslet, Michael Keaton, Helen Mirren and Ridley Scott are among the celebrities who will introduce honorees at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala Saturday at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The festival announced 12 presenters, including one honoree, Saoirse Ronan, who will pull double duty.
Ronan, who will receive the International Star Award, Actress, will present the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, to Cate Blanchett, who is considered a likely rival to Ronan in the race for the Best Actress Academy Award.
Blanchett and Ronan are considered favorites to receive Oscar nominations for their roles in “Carol” and “Brooklyn,” respectively.
Ronan is scheduled to receive her International Star Award from Paul Dano, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as a young Brian Wilson in “Love and Mercy.”
The Awards Gala is sold out, but fans may line up across the street from the convention center to watch the celebrities walk down the red carpet before the 6 p.m. start time of the gala dinner.
